Former Texas Rangers star to open pizza restaurant at Texas Live!
Troy Aikman won’t be the only local sports star to open an eatery at Texas Live! Iván “Pudge” Rodriguez has announced he’ll be slinging dough at the Arlington entertainment district.
As reported by CultureMap, the former catcher for the Texas Rangers is bringing Pudge’s Pizza to the second level of Texas Live! in an area that overlooks the Live! Arena. The restaurant will have a family-friendly atmosphere and specialize in pizza pies with names like The Vega Baja, The 20-20 and The Texas Slinger.
"I look forward to seeing all my fans and sharing a good slice of pizza with my Rangers community at Pudge's Pizza come August,” Rodriguez said in a prepared statement.
The eatery is expected to open on Aug. 9.
Pudge’s Pizza will join Troy’s, a concept by former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman. As the Dallas Business Journal reported in May, Troy's is expected to open in late August or early September, spanning 10,000 square feet with a patio, beer garden, live music areas and a dining room with TVs for watching games.
Menu options will center on burgers and also healthy options.
Texas Live! will open on Aug. 9. Click here for a full schedule of grand opening events.
The district is anchored by the Texas Rangers’ new stadium, which will start seating fans in March 2020. Other food and beverage options coming to the district include Lockhart Smoke House, a Revolver brewery and a restaurant by Guy Fieri.
