$150M flagship hotel for Texas Live! gets underway in Arlington
A new $150 million flagship hotel — Live! by Loews — and convention center at Texas Live! officially got underway on Wednesday in Arlington. The facility will bring hundreds of hotel rooms within walking distance of Texas Rangers' Globe Life Park and the Dallas Cowboys' AT&T Stadium.
The 14-story, 302-room hotel is part of a $4 billion vision being developed by The Cordish Cos., and is expected to bring $100 million per year in economic impacts to Arlington and Tarrant County during its first 40 years.
The dream of bringing a luxury resort convention hotel to Arlington became a reality with the official groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, said Mayor Jeff Williams.
"It is a significant step forward in fulfilling our vision of becoming one of the country's top tourism destinations for conventions and major events," Williams said in a prepared statement.
Texas Rangers Managing Partner Ray Davis said the upscale hotel will be a "game changer" for the evolving Arlington entertainment district. The hotel will include the following:
A veranda-style terrace that will serve as the hotel's central gathering place for residents and visitors to Arlington. The terrace will overlook an adjacent event lawn.
An outdoor infinity-edge pool with two bars, including a swim-up bar. Cabanas, lounge spaces and a fire pit will sit adjacent to the terrace and event lawn.
A private rooftop terrace for events overlooking the entertainment district, with views of the Dallas and Fort Worth skylines.
A two-story, 35,000-square-foot event center, which will include a grand ballroom that can accommodate 1,500 guests. The meeting space also includes an executive boardroom with other meeting spaces.
Fort Worth-based Revolver Brewing Brewery will open a bar and tasting room at the hotel.
"To have the opportunity to combine our excellence in operating hotels with the vast expertise of partners like The Cordish Companies and the Texas Rangers allows us to bring a one-of-a-kind lodging experience to the destination," said Jonathan Tisch, chairman and CEO of Loews Hotels & Co.
The hotel is being built through a joint venture partnership with Manhattan Construction Co. and Arlington-based Con-Real.
Dallas-based HKS Architects, Mycoskie+Mcinnis+Associates, Purdy-McGuire and McLaren Engineering Group are also working on the project.
Upon opening in 2019, this will be the first Loews hotel to carry the Live! by Loews name.
